MODULE 1: Supplies and Basic Botanical Drawing

Discover which supplies Annie likes to use to embellish her artwork with floral motifs and patterns! Learn her techniques for drawing basic leaf and flower shapes, then learn how to add life to them by adding organic texture and natural shape, such as leaves that are coming towards you or are flipped over, or flower stems that have both buds and open petals.

MODULE 2: Preparing to Paint

Learn how to draw one of our class projects, a beautiful garden rose, by starting out with large geometric shapes and then gradually adding details to refine those shapes. You’ll also see how Annie mixes and prepares her watercolors before beginning to paint, including how to get lovely muted colors and a variety of pretty greens.

MODULE 3: Painting the Garden Rose

Now you’ll learn how to paint the drawing outline that you did in the previous module! Watch over Annie’s shoulder as she creates this painting layer by layer.

MODULE 4: Florals with a Dip Pen

In this module, you’ll switch gears to learn how to create floral embellishments with a dip pen. Annie walks you through sketching a pretty oval wreath, and then tracing that with a calligraphy pen to create a unique, organic look.

MODULE 5: Florals with a Permanent Pen

Lastly, Annie will share her tips for arranging and composing designs, plus walk you through drawing a floral motif finished with permanent ink pen.
